Canadian luxury retailer Holt Renfrew to start selling iPhones next year?

While this rumor is at early stages, somehow it does make sense for Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) to use an additional channel beside the carrier’s stores for iPhone’s distribution. So, we may see Apple partnering with a GSM carrier in Canada, but also with a retail chain to reach as many buyers as possible — after all, they did a similar deal for the UK market. According to Engadget, there are some clues it might be the country’s “luxury retailer” Holt Renfrew. The story goes further to suggest they will start selling the iPhone starting from January next year, even though it was originally planned for this fall.
Whatever the case is, I’m sure Apple will find its fans in Canada as soon as they enter the market with the iPhone. In the meantime, our Canadian readers can always pick some of the iPhones with the earlier firmware if that’s what they want…

This is not likely. Rogers has not, and probably will not, offer a reasonably priced unlimited data plan.
