3 UK adds pay-as-you-go 3G service; Tourists rejoice!

By Dusan Belic on Tuesday, October 9th, 2007 at 9:58 AM PST In Announcements, Three

So far we got used to see innovation coming from Hutchinson’s 3 network. Now they’ve added a new service allowing pay-as-you-go access to 3G network. What this means is that next time you visit UK, you’ll be able to have broadband virtually everywhere — or at least where 3’s 3G network reaches (i.e. Metro areas).

3 UK adds pay-as-you-go 3G serviceThe 3G access card costs 10 pounds, and afterwards you’ll pay just 2.60 GBP per week. In addition — and as we said this should appeal to numerous tourists in Britain — you don’t need to have a UK address nor to provide any form of ID. Just set the AP to “three.co.uk” and you’re ready to rock!

However, one thing that bugs me is that in theory you are not allowed to tether PCs using this method. But in practice, it works! Too bad I won’t be visiting Britain anytime soon, but our very own Stefan will be at the Symbian Smartphone Show and I’m sure he’ll find this service useful!
