Gangsters in Canada use RIM BlackBerries for secure communication

The cat and mouse chase between law enforcement and gangs has become something of a technology war. Cops are trying to track down the bad-guys through email, text, and phone conversations. Gangbangers are trying to thwart authorities by finding alternatives to traditional phone conversations.
Well, it looks like Canadian gangbangers have a new partner in crime. RIM’s BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) lineup of smartphones seems to be the phone of choice for these baddies. You see, the BlackBerry line gives the gangsters a secure line of communication that the cops can’t crack. If cops can’t see what the gangs are saying, they can’t track them down and bust them.
Nefarious characters the nation over can find a new safe harbor in RIM’s secure communications. Could the gang demographic be partially responsible for RIM’s booming profits?
