LucidTouch - multi-touch taken to the next level

This really is a cool idea. The LucidTouch proof-of-concept prototype is basically a touchscreen mobile device that lets you interact with the screen on a whole new level. By allowing touch-inputs on the back of the device’s screen, users can interact with the UI with fingers as well as thumbs.

Multi-touch improved on previous touchscreen applications by bringing another input dimension into the picture (hence the name, multi-touch). But, multi-touch (as it applies to the mobile space) still has its limitations - the user must change posture in order to effectively interact with the UI. LucidTouch improves on multi-touch by allowing the user to interact with the back of the display with their fingers, while comfortably holding the device. It opens up a whole new realm of touch-screen possibilities.

Check out the vid below, it’s pretty amazing.

Dude, it’s a proof-of-concept device. The actual device is ugly, but the idea is great.
