SHAPE Services acquires iPhone Application List; iPhone web apps market set to explode?

SHAPE Services, the company that is best known as the developer of the IM+ instant messaging software for multiple platforms, has announced that it has acquired iPhoneApplicationList.com, the site that lists iPhone web-based applications and services. The details of the transaction are not disclosed, but somehow we’re sure the folks behind the mentioned website have benefited.

The way I see it, Germany-based SHAPE Services have seen the promising future for the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s handset, hence they’ve decided to jump into the “iPhone ecosystem” before the big boys. Earlier, we saw them releasing Skype for iPhone, the web-based Skype solution, and now — following their latest move — it seems they’re preparing to roll-out more web apps for the iPhone. It’s pure speculation at this stage, but then again it makes perfect sense…
