CECT G100 – first Chinese 3G (TD-SCDMA) phone

By Dusan Belic on Sunday, October 14th, 2007 at 9:44 AM PST In Devices, Technologies

Well, it started happening – the phones equipped with China 3G compatible radios are here. The first such device made by CECT has finally been announced and is called the G100.

CECT logoAside from the fast data transfer support, the G100 also packs such features as voice-recognition, media player, high resolution camera (we’re not sure about the megapixel count) and the ultra-long standby battery. Apparently, CECT finds the G100 to be the real breakthrough device, although we’re not actually sure what’s so special about it except the TD-SCDMA support. Ok, I guess that’s good enough…

Expect more TD-SCDMA handset announcements in the next couple of weeks – China Mobile is holding bidding for its initial mass handset purchase towards the end of the month, so a lot of vendors are hoping to release new models before the deadline so they can sell them at the network launch.
