iDemocracy – the semi-automatic iPhone v1.1.1 jailbreak solution for Windows PC

iDemocracy is the GUI jailbreak for iPhone v1.1.1 on Windows XP and Vista

Why should Mac OS X users get all the fun? The recently released, Cocoa-based iNdependence gives Mac OS X-using iPhone v1.1.1 owners a quick(er) and (relatively) painless GUI jailbreak solution. It’d be nice if Windows PC users had the same convenience of a GUI-based jailbreak solution for the iPhone v1.1.1, wouldn’t it? Well, it would.

Enter iDemocracy. Windows XP and Windows Vista users can now enjoy the benefits of a semi-automatic jailbreak solution. We say “semi-automatic” because iDemocracy still requires a few manual restarts, and a downgrade of the firmware – but seeing as how it handles all the Terminal-command and SSH intricacies, we’d say this “semi-automatic” solution is pretty damn convenient.

Head on over to Google Code to pick up the Windows-based (iDemocracy is programmed in C# and requires Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT)’s .NET Framework 2.0) iPhone v1.1.1 jailbreak GUI solution.

Update: It seems there’s a little bug in the iDemocracy software that results in your iPhone only showing 300MB capacity. Fear not, Windows user, there’s a fix on the way.

I am running on firmware 1.0.2 with AppTap with all 3rd party apps. What is the best way to upgrade to 1.1.1 with the iDemocracy? Should I restore my iPhone 1st and then upgrade to firmware 1.1.1 and then iDemocracy or just install upgrade to firmware 1.1.1 with the AppTap installed?

  4. Will Park says:

Updating to v1.1.1 with AppTapp/Installer.app installed should be fine. But, just to be safe, I would restore the iPhone before any update.

    Good luck!

Keep in mind that you hack your iPhone at your own risk.

Apple won’t give you any support if something goes wrong.

I just got a brand new iPhone with 1.1.1.
I downloaded iDemocracy yesterday and I followed all the steps very closely but stuck in step 10:

“10. Your iPhone should ask for activation. Do so, but don’t sync just yet.”

I don’t know how to proceed from here. Advice?

  7. Kent says:

I have exactly the same issue. My phone is a completely virgin unactivated one. Trying to use the activator to activate it, don’t work.

    Anyone?

for the “step 10″ problem, I believe this is your answer (although it’s not easy to read. Punctuation seems to be a lost cause here)

I have the sae problem . However i think we cannot get into the I phone because open SSH is not available at that point ..

In the next steps when the appserver is installed , then open SSH services are installed ..

How do we ssh into the phone before installing the appserver
