Virgin Mobile USA adds Kyocera’s Wild Card; Heavy texters rejoice

Virgin Mobile USA is known to target young people who are usually on a budget when it comes to mobile phone purchases. Hence, most of their phones are somewhere in the low-to-mid range.

Kyocera - Wild Card

Lately, they’ve added a new device to support heavy SMS users on their network – Kyocera Wireless’ Wild Card. Although we found it’s far from a “superior handset” their release is stating, the Wild Card DOES pack some interesting features for only $99.99. Aside from the full QWERTY keyboard that is probably THE raison d’être of this device, the Kyocera’s handset also packs Bluetooth connectivity, dual screens (internal is 128×160 pixel), 1.3 MP camera with 3x digital zoom, integrated speakerphone, and WAP 2.0 Web browser.

Interested? You can already grab it at Best Buy, Radio Shack, Target and Wal-Mart; or wait for Wednesday (October 24) and get it from Virgin Mobile USA’s website.

Don’t trust this phone. I had this phone’s predecessor, the SwitchBack and it would reboot whenever I typed a text message. I don’t see why this phone would be any different.

      that picture really sucks i want to see the whole phone! not JUST THE INSIDE!!! but it does look pretty   .

   The first Virgin Mobile phone “for grownups.” Saw the Switchback at Radio Shack—didn’t buy—but the Wild Card is a much more substantial and solid unit. It has somewhat larger displays inside & out and the QWERTY keyboard is much bigger—good for large fingers or a person with limited dexterity. If you’re working on a message and need to close the phone, it stays where you left off, even when the display goes into sleep mode. The camera is much better than on the Cyclops. You can use any compatible Bluetooth headset—a plus for going untethetered. The choice of texting options is pretty good, however, there should have been more characters allotted in that mode, especially when communicating with the text-illiterate (like elderly parents). Hint: For larger messages using regular spelling, use the picture messaging option—it allows for 1000 characters, versus 100 in text mode, along with a photo. The unlinited
messaging pack is worthwhile, as is Contact Vault. I did come upon some annoyances, however, probably due to Virgin Mobile—not Kyocera. “Surf the Web” is not fully functional due to “network gremlins,” a major drawback for trying to business on-line away from your home or office without a laptop. The inside display could have been still larger or a smaller font could have been an option, especially for reading Mobile Email. As it was, I could see only one message at a time. Stereo internal speakers would have been nice for streaming music. Overall, for a prepaid phone less than $100, the benefits still outweighed the drawbacks.

Ok, well I’m getting this phone on Friday, and right now I have the Cyclops, which is a great phone, but the graphics on the camera aren’t the best in the world. And when I’m typing a text the spot where I’m texting switches spots and it is really annoying. But don’t get me wrong, the Cyclops is a great starter phone for kids. Except they have cheesy ringtones and the battery falls out too easily. That’s why I’m switching to the Wild Card. Me and my friend were on the phone while we were both on VirginMobileUSA.com and we were looking at the phones. I was first going to get the Super Slice, because my friend has it and its AWESOME! But we saw the Wild Card, and I really liked it. She really liked it too. She said “If you get that phone, I might just have to eat you!” Well turns out I’m getting the phone and I’m going to be eated      lol

virgin mobile is one of the worst companys ever there phones are cheap for a reason: That reason is that the phones don’t hardly work and because they are cute so that is one reason that people buy’s them. Don’t get it and if you’ve got it you need to change your company to sprint, verizon, or at&t those are the BEST companys out now. Virgin Mobile is HORRIBLE the worst company out right now. Once I had Virgin Mobile I switched to sprint fast because on virgin mobile they took the money out my credit card 3 times and my phone still was not on until 3 days later and they took out money for the forth payment. They still have not payed me back yet still to this day.
THIS IS A WARNING DON’T GET VIRGIN MOBILE
    IT IS HORRIBLE
