Western Union partners with GSM Association; Prepares global mobile money transfer service

Western Union and the GSM Association are working together to introduce the new global service that will use the mobile technology to allow users to easily send money globally. I can already feel Nigerian spammers rejoicing, but we should think positive. The new service will help people send their money faster while keeping the Western Union’s way-to-high margins on target. I said positive!
Anyway, 35 carriers around the world will participate in the trial, which is expected to start during the Q2 2008. Afterwards who knows? With Western Union’s money transfer costs, they’ll jump into the carrier business acquiring network by network, and soon enough rule the world. Nah…
