EQO releases Symbian S60 3rd edition client

Just recently, EQO has released its popular EQO Mobile application for Symbian S60 3rd edition based devices, allowing users of (mostly) Nokia (NYSE: NOK) smartphones to talk and text much cheaper. Previously, we saw them releasing the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) client and now (naturally) they want to hop over to the world’s most popular mobile smartphone platform.
Those not familiar should know that with EQO they can call anywhere in the world for rates as low as 2.3 cents per minute, while also saving on texting. In addition, EQO Mobile users can use the application as the universal instant messaging client and connect with their buddies on MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Talk, ICQ and/or Jabber while on-the-go.
I haven’t tried EQO, but if some of you guys/gals have – don’t hesitate to drop us a comment. The offer is certainly compelling, but let’s not forget we also have Fring which does pretty much the same job…
UPDATE: At the moment, EQO Mobile for Symbian S60 3rd edition based devices is still in private alpha, but I guess the final version is just around the corner. Stay tuned…

Hello there,
We haven’t actually released the native Symbian version of EQO Mobile just yet. Sorry for the confusion, but we do have a private alpha going on right now. If you’d like to give the new EQO Mobile a try on your S60 3rd edition phone, please send us your device model and IMEI to support@eqo.com.
Cheers,
Chris
