If you own a Symbian OS based smartphone, you’ve probably already heard about Epocware. They make popular SlovoEd, Merriam-Webster and PONS dictionaries, as well as such “Handy” utilities as Handy Weather, Handy Handy Profiles, Handy Alarm, and more.
Now they’ve announced three new Oxford dictionaries for Symbian S60 3rd Edition and UIQ 3.0 smartphones, including:
- Concise Oxford English Dictionary, the most popular English dictionary with over 240,000 words, phrases, and definitions.
- Concise Oxford Thesaurus, which contains over 365,000 alternative and opposite words, and is hence ideal for use in word games and puzzles.
- Oxford Russian Dictionary – 185,000+ references, 290,000+ translations including thorough coverage of regional Russian, British, and American dialects as well as of modern idioms and colloquial usage, with numerous illustrative examples.
As usual, Epocware is relying on its powerful SlovoEd engine, which adds such features as audio pronunciations (for S60 3rd Edition), instant word search, and cross-links between related articles and directions. More information is available on Epocware’s site.
