Not sure which native iPhone apps you want to install on your iPhone? It can be a bit overwhelming, wading through all the third-party applications available through Nullriver’s Installer.app.
Well, App-a-day is here to make it easier on you. Download and install the App-a-day, um, app through Installer.app and you’ll have access to daily-updated lists of third-party iPhone applications. The first app on the list for November 1 is “Pumpkin.” Not sure how to get third-party applications/jailbreak on your iPhone? Check out the one-click jailbreak solution that will install Installer.app for you. It’s so simple you can’t screw it up – we call it idiot proof.
With the App-a-day application, we should have more than enough distraction until Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) releases the official iPhone SDK early next year.
Welp, it’s finally here. AT&T (NYSE: T) has just gone live with the text-messaging powerhouse that is the Pantech C810 Duo. Armed with a QWERTY keyboard and numeric keypad – all powered by Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard – the Pantech C810 Duo should bring an incredibly sleek and convenient WinMo6 device to the text-happy masses. Oh, and power users will be happy to hear that the C810 Duo rocks 3G on UMTS/HSDPA.
Get your hands on the Pantech C810 Duo for $199.99 (with two-year contract) from AT&T.
Everyone’s out to get the iPhone – that much is indisputable. With a clear edge in the UI department, manufacturers are scrambling to take on the full-touchscreen-based interface on the iPhone. Enter Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE).
The Sony Ericsson Maria is the rumored iPhone-fighter with a full touchscreen. From what we can see above, the UI is based on a new UIQ OS that is optimized for finger-based touch inputs. Could we possibly be looking at the Sony Ericsson Maria’s UI? We’ll just have to wait and see.
As many faults as the iPhone has, we gotta hand it to Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) for spurring the kind of innovation and development that the mobile space so badly needed. And it’s all about the (cough) touchscreen (cough).
While the US plays catch-up with Canada’s Rogers (NYSE: RCI) Wireless’ HSPA network, the No. 1 GSM carrier up north has just announced plans to boost its wireless broadband speeds to 7.2Mbps. The Rogers Wireless HSPA trial has gone live in Montreal and Brampton – but we’re not sure what the trial parameters are.
Either way, there are going to be some happy 7.2Mbps HSPA testers in Montreal and Brampton. We just wish we could get a taste of some super-highspeed broadband from the likes of AT&T (NYSE: T). Not that the super-high speeds will make mobile web browsing any faster – the page-viewing bottleneck usually lies in processing and rendering speeds of mobile devices, rather than the connection speed. But it’d be nice to get cable-broadband speeds over the air and onto our laptops.
The Motorola (NYSE: MOT)’s flagship RAZR2 V9 is finally available in Canada. The carrier is Rogers (NYSE: RCI) Wireless, which is selling the device for CA$299 with a 3-year term or CA$459.99 sans any contract. In addition, customers will be able to get the new RAZR for $CA199.99 with the carrier’s VISION plan.
As a reminder, the stylish RAZR2 V9 boasts two screens (external is 2 inches), 2 MP camera, stereo Bluetooth support, media player that is compatible (syncs) with Windows Media Player 11, and of course the microSD memory slot…
Mobile payments specialist Upaid today announced the national launch of its Mobile Payment Service (MPS) marketing campaign in Serbia. The service includes all three carriers as well as 10 banks in the country, and is available to the country’s 6.6 million phone users (Serbia has a population of 7.6 million).
While we can already pay our parking fees with SMS, the new service will initially allow us to recharge our and our friends’ prepaid phones with a simple SMS. Naturally, no one wants to stop there and soon enough we’ll have a full blown mobile payment system. Actually, not that soon enough, but I guess we’ll be able to use the benefits of mobile payments on such places as gas stations and super markets.
The mobile payment service is free of charge to all Visa card holders, who should apply for the new service at their bank. As for the carriers, mt:s has been using the service for the past year, Vip Mobile is launching the service today and Telenor is finalizing the pilot stage.
Want to know more? Visit the dedicated Mobile Payment Service site or check out the full release after the break.
Back in July, we’ve talked about the upcoming Motorola (NYSE: MOT)’s Bluetooth accessory that bundles car speakerphone with FM transmitter. Well, now it’s officially announced but unfortunately we’ll have to wait it till Q1 2008.
If you still haven’t understood, the MOTOROKR T505 works BOTH as a car-kit AND as a FM transmitter. That’s a single device, which allows you to listen to your music from a Bluetooth A2DP enabled phone, plus use it as a car speakerphone! When someone calls you, it automatically mutes the music and audibly announces the Caller-ID. Nice, very nice!
We’ve already seen it passing the FCC hurdle and now it’s officially here. The small, candybar-shaped handset measures 103×46x16.7 mm and weighs just 82 grams. Don’t expect much of the features just the basic phone functionality and standard phone apps like alarm clock, calculator, calendar, phone book, stopwatch and timer pre-installed. In addition, the K205a also sports a VGA camera — meaning you’ll be able to take quick not-that-large snaps occasionally.
Now, you may be wondering (or not) where this baby’s heading. My guess would be AT&T (NYSE: T), who is getting kinda hot on Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) phones lately…
Here are the pictures of three Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) Cyber-shot phones. The K800i is the oldest one, but has the same 3.2 MP camera like its successor – K810i. The K850i is the latest evolution of the Cyber-shot handsets and comes with 5 megapixel camera. If you’re interested and can afford it, the K850i is the way to go. Still, you won’t miss with the K810i nor K800i. Too bad there’s no K770i, THE sexiest Cyber-shot handset, on these pics… More shots after the jump.
Jan van Iperen from Nokia N95 Blog had a chance to play with the new version of rotateMe (2.0), and he prepared a short video demonstrating us how Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N95 can auto-rotate just like the iPhone. As you’re about to see, this is quite useful feature especially when you’re browsing through your gallery or when using some location-based service. Enjoy the short demo!
