Spotlight search coming to iPhone next year?

The iPhone SDK is coming in February next year and apparently apart from the support for the third-party apps, we may also see the iPhone enhanced with Spotlight-like search. According to analyst at PiperJaffray – Gene Munster, we should expect the contextual search feature allowing the iPhone users to locate contacts, emails, phone numbers and/or calendar events (files?) through a single search interface.

Somehow I also believe this will be the case. By opening iPhone’s OS to third party developers, we may have to deal with different filetypes. So, it’s only natural to have some kind of search (and browse) functionality built inside the iPhone to make that easily manageable. We’ll see…
