Its GSM network is nearly 3 times as big as the CDMA one, with 116 million users compared to 40 million. Unicom are also a lot keener on the European-style "sell subsidized handsets and recoup the investment from monthly fees" business plan than Mobile, who tend to sell unlocked handsets at full MRSP.
