Google launches SMS search In China

Google (NSDQ: GOOG) may be the leader in the western world, but in China it still lags behind Baidu. And of course the search giant — like any other big company — bets heavily on the ever-growing Chinese market.

That being said, they’ve just launched a new service – SMS Search, allowing people in China to search the web via SMS. The service works quite simply — users send a message to the dedicated phone number, and Google returns them search results in a text message.

Finally to illustrate how Google’s serious when it comes to China, it’s interesting to note the SMS Search is their 25th localized product launched in “the world’s fastest growing economy” this year…
