SMS used to find out person’s HIV status in South Africa

Thanks to the mobile technology, people in South Africa can easily find out their HIV status. In order to do that, they need to SMS the word “HIV” to 31771 followed by their post code or town name, and they’ll get an SMS back with two nearest testing locations. In addition to fixed locations, six mobile Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) units are also traveling around the country.
