Sony Ericsson PSP phone should be the dual-sliding device!

My impressions are that Muhummad-oli from Esato forums was right on target when he designed this concept device. I do agree with him that the rumored PSP phone should be the dual-sliding device just like the Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N95 or Samsung i450. Just in this case, on slide down user would use a numeric keypad for making phone calls and texting, and on the slide up the gaming control keys would reveal and he/she could start playing games. This way the device would keep the “PSP experience” while seamlessly integrating with the phone functionality. Kinda neat, don’t you think?
Plus let’s not forget that according to Muhummad-oli, the device would also sport the 3.2 MP camera, media player and the wireless Internet connectivity… Check out the full concept design after the jump. UPDATE: We have one more image now.

It definitely looks neat, but I do not agree with you that it would be a good device for gaming. The buttons in the design are just too misaligned that would make it harder to hold and hit.

i think the phone is a way to big. when i go on a party and take my phone with me i don’t want that this phone is pulling down my pens. a psp phone would be cool but it should be a lot smaller and lighter

i don’t think that sony ericsson will have a problem engineering the buttons on the face…but they will have an issue with the R and L buttons that the PSP hand held has. they have to be large enough so that they are easily hit during game play. but sleek enough that they don’t take away from the look of the device. maybe they could pop out when you slide the phone in “gaming mode”? and then sink in flush with the sides of the phone when you are not playing a game.

a good photoshop! LOLX, i guess that design would not be good for gaming, the dual sliding design would not be appropriate… the design is very nice and clean, and lacks details to make it look futuristic and i think it would not meet the standards of sony like panasonic if they are going to make such gadget… and ofcourse! dont forget the battery life!! i guess this would not be good,,, that’s only my opinion…..

What functionality would the portable form have – would it give you an iPod/Walkman style display of songs or video that was playing at the time, and if a camera was integrated into it, could you use it in that form or would you have to expand it one way or the other?
Balance for the gaming user would be slightly off-puttng at first seeing as the shoulder buttons are not aligned. I suppose that is necessary considering that the START and SELECT buttons are located on the gaming platform and not the main body of the device.
My personal preference of the PSP Phone is essentially the PSP-3000 with an integrated phone. To make a call, you hold it vertically, having an alphanumeric keypad slide down from the back of the console, and use the microphone to talk. Also, there NEEDS to be support for an ordinary sim card i.e. Virgin or Optus, I don’t want to have to buy into a Sony-based plan just to make calls.
