Grab your Alltel BlackBerry 8130 Pearl now

Alltel’s finally joining the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl-party with today’s announcement that the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) Pearl 2 is now available to all Alltel subscribers. If you’re not familiar with the BlackBerry 8130 Pearl by now, well, you should have been paying attention – there’s going to be a quiz at the end of all this.
Anyway, this SureType successor to the original BlackBerry Pearl will be bringing that 2 megapixel camera and integrated GPS receiver to Alltel’s “Largest Network.” There’s also that regular 3.5mm headphone jack, microSDHC card slot, all packed into the Alltel-only Amethyst (we call it “Blue”) colored body. A 2-year contract and a rebate will net you an Alltel-flavored BlackBerry 8130 Pearl for about $150.
I’ve had my Blackberry Pearl for bout 6 months now. I hated it when i first got. Now i’m used to it. By the way– i heard there was a new update out for the Picture Messaging–Anyone know anything bout this? Or where i can download it? I’ve kinda mist picture messaging– thanks James NE

I have a love hate relationship with my phone. I love how easy it is to use, the internet, maps, nice camera, all the different apps you can download. But I HATE how you cant recieve MMS messeges and how it constantly deletes your call log and SMS messeges. I did find the download though that enables to have MMS messeges now so im super excited..that was an important part of my daily text messeging…lol.

It took about 30 minutes to completely run though…but now I have picture messeging.
And as far as the automatically deleting my text messages…after countless visits to the alltel dealer and noumerous tips from them that did not work…You just need to stay on top of the amount of messeges in your email inbox. They suggest I get a SD card, which i had in my phone when they suggested that. Constantly deleting emails is the only way i can stop my phone from not deleting my text messages and call log. Dont ever let you email stack up to 200 messeges. Thats the only thing I have found that helps.. Other than that I love my phone. I hope this helps pearl users…

Hey all if your phone ERASE ALL OF YOUR SMS MESSAGES AND YOUR CALL LOG FOR NO REASON you have to get MicroSD. I hade same problem til I got myself 2gB card … now it is working just fine. If you need patch for PicMail you can get one, just google it. Nice phone, just wait for few mon. they will comeup with fix-patch.
ok so i got my phone back in november or so… and since then it deletes my messages on me at least 2 a month, these are messages i need for court eventually and alltel is telling me i cant get them. also its slowing down on me constantly and takes 30-45 minutes half the time to turn on after its turned off on its own. not only all this but it doesnt always tell me when someone calls just tells me i have new voicemail, and i cant get pix messages even tho when i first got it i was told to go to a website, download and then i will b able to but so far ive gone there 4 times and still cant figure it out at all. alltel is absolutely no help.
Yuck. Just got this phone and it sucks. I had less trouble with my twenty dollar Sanyo.
