Quanta licenses Intrinsyn Soleus for WindowsCE deviceThe who’s, where’s, and how’s of this equation are still a bit murky. But, we can tell you that Quanta has bought up some Intrinsync Soleus platform-licenses with the intention of building a WindowsCE-based device for, well, someone. The WinCE device will purportedly sport HSDPA functionality and should hit the market (whatever market that turns out to be) in 2H of 2008.

There’s no specific mention of phone-functionality, so this HSDPA-packing device could be a low-end computer, or a high-end WindowsCE smartphone (the Soleus platform support quad-band GSM). It would be nice to know just what market and for what vendor this handset is intended, but that would be asking too much. We’ll keep our eyes peeled and our ears to the wind for more details on this Quanta-sourced new WinCE handset computer device.
