When the region specific information can't be found, which is unexpected, the program doesn't know how to do anything other than crash, there is a fix for it, use google. This doesn't classify as sabotage on Apple's part, why should they provide specific country information on a phone that isn't meant to be used outside the country for which they have operator agreements for. The iPhone IS unlocked properly, and will work perfectly in the US, UK, France, Italy or Germany as the region information is provided. it's just being used in an unintended country so there will be problems.
