Apple to announce 5 million iPhones sold at MacWorld Expo?

Apple close to 5 million iPhone salesWell, if 9to5mac is on point with this latest speculation, then Apple is poised to announce that they’ve pushed 5 million iPhone handsets onto the smartphone market. We’re looking for Steve Jobs to announce the blistering sales numbers during his keynote at MacWorld Expo on January 15th.

The iPhone just recently broke through the 1 million-handset market, and with European iPhone sales shrouded in doubt (some reports indicate incredible sales, others paint a much dimmer picture), we find it hard to believe that Apple is already halfway to their 10 million-handset end-of-2008 goal. Still, we could be wrong, and the iPhone could deliver another giant blow to Windows Mobile’s market. We’ll know if  a few weeks time…

lol In Europe with Germany, France and United Kingdom they have not even sold 40000 , In Uk round 100-900 a day, LG sale over 10 000 only of vierty and Nokia over 1 million devices evry day.

It are incoming reports that iphone have fail total in Europe.

    • Topy says:

USA type of iphone hype hasnt been around if theres been any hype at all, but i dont belive those really low numbers that some are giving. I’m sure they have sold okish.

It’s funny to think how many phones they sell in a day(Nokia that is). Apple will have to work with their logistic if they ever going to sell as much as Nokia

    • Will Park says:

Right, Topy. I tend to agree that low sales numbers are suspect. However, Apple demonstrated that they had an incredibly robust logistics in their US iPhone launch. 1/4 million handsets in barely 1.5 days, with no Apple Stores selling out of stock, and many AT&T stores keeping up with demand - and remember, all this was done under incredibly tight security.

Either way, we’ll have to wait until Jobs’s keynote to see what the real numbers are - if he even wants to unveil that info.

    • Topy says:

Feeding only in USA and only in AT&T and Apple stores dosent really strike me as great logistic thought they seemed to know exactly how many phones they where going to sell in the next days…not so sure if Nokia could have done it better. Still selling more than 1 million phones every day globally do need some effort

@Danny, The folks in the UK ain’t buying those Nokia and LG phones they get them mosly free with a 18 month contract. If anything this shows us American what a bunch of broke-ass snubs they are.

    • Mr-G says:

Bustafone - How does that make us broke or snubs? Yes we get our phone for free, how does that make us broke? We still have to pay the equivalent of around $100 a month for 18 months to get these phones for free.

I think the reason for the iPhone flopping is because people over here have already got the N95 since april. That phone is now extremely common over here. Even with all the o2 adverts and iPhone adverts on TV we’re just not impressed as you lot where.

Back to the original point - Since we’re getting our phones for free and we don’t have to sign up to a TWO YEAR CONTRACT! (say that again…..TWO YEARS), doesn’t that make our providers better than yours?

Well, I’ll be sleeping easy knowing that I can buy a N82 or N95 8GB and make use of all of its features….including 3.5G :P

    • Booster says:

Well ok , too the first , Nokia N95 is a smartphone not like a iphone you cant do a shit with , No 3G ?? Is a stone age phone , and I believe US dudes like freedoom to choose what they want. Not be inprison with Steve Jobs crazy istupid contrackt .

Thats why nobody want the stupid ipone

    • Booster says:

I forget they talk about 50 tousen sold iiiiphone round the globe ,from ca 200million other devices sold last month.

    • spacecowboy says:

Hmmmmm, I’m curious. How many smartphones does Nokia sell everyday? And Oh by the way how many smartphones does LG sell everyday? So Nokia and LG sells truck, compacts and SUV’s, but how many luxury sedans with over 1,000 horsepower, state of the art and really slick do they sell compared to Apple’s ultra luxury lineup?
