Nokia leak hints at Nokia N95 8GB North American Version, N82 8GB

What’s this? Another N95 release? That’s right. In the tradition of Motorola’s re-released-to-death RAZR lineup, Nokia has let it slip that the Noka N95 8GB will be tweaked and re-released to play nice on those funky US 3G frequencies that make America so great. It makes sense for Nokia to release a US-spec Nokia N95 8GB for some time now, and it seems that the launch may not be far off.
Nokia actually leaked the information themselves, following the leaked hardware pics of the Nokia N96 the other day. Astute Nokia fans noticed that the “Downloads!” page in Nokia’s US Nseries Portal featured support for the Nokia N95 8GB NAM as well as the rumored Nokia N82 8GB. Was it just a case of too much rum-laced EggNog at the Nokia Holiday Office party, or is Nokia going to make it their policy to leak future handset info themselves? We’d prefer the latter - after all, there’s no better kind of leak than those that come straight from the manufacturer.
The Nokia N82 8GB listing was taken down with haste, but Nokia decided to leave the N95 8GB NAM up for all to see. We’d say that the launch of the Nokia N95 8GB US is highly likely, with the Nokia N82 8GB possibly not far behind. CES 2008 will probably net us some juicy details, and possibly a few juicier pics. Stay tuned!
Update:
Seeing as how Nokia took down any mention of an N82 8GB, but kept the N95 8GB NAM listed on the website, the N82 8GB was likely a typo (as ExiTuS from NokiaPort.de pointed out). We’re going to go ahead and give the N82 8GB a “flaky” rating (probably not going to happen). The N95 8GB NAM (North American version) still gets a “likely” rating - it makes sense for Nokia to tweak the N95 8GB to play on US 3G frequencies, and we fully expect a Nokia N95 8GB NAM soon.

Did you notice that there’s a N95 standard and a N95 8GB? well, where’s the standard N95 NAM? This is probably just another typo from an ill-informed employee that is yet to be corrected.

Nokia N95 comes in three flavors thus far:
Nokia N95 European
Nokia N95 American
Nokia N95 8GB (European)
The Nokia N95 8GB NAM would be the North American (NAM) version of the 8GB N95. Makes sense, probably not a typo.

I hope the tweak it A LOT. Especially keeping the microSD cardslot whilst still having the upgraded battery AND a camera shutter. Also, the camera has to have the same intense quality as the original.
…yeah, yeah, I know it’s impossible, but that’d be one HELL of a phone!

I would say the N95 8GB is already one hell of a phone. A microSD card slot and a camera lens-cover would be icing on the cake.
I’d love to see a lens-cover on the N95 8GB NAM. It seems like such a simple little detail that could make all the difference if you end up scratching that lens. Even a bit of added girth would be an acceptable trade-off for a lens-cover.

I emailed Nokia and they gave me a response on the Nokia N82 8GB. It really was a typo and they said they’re not releasing a Nokia N82 8gb.

Why would they want to release an 8gb version of N82? when one can just purchase an 8gb micro sdhc card.
The only possibility would be to release the N82 in different colors. Oh and how about changing the annoying d-pad to something more functional. It really is difficult to use especially when playing games.
