QKfone G998 – Fake Mercedes communicator from China

We know Mercedes is not in the mobile phones business, but that doesn’t mean they’re totally against borrowing their brand to the other handset makers. For instance, we saw Asus’ Windows Mobile smartphone wearing the famous car badge.
As expected, certain Chinese handset makers don’t need those “old fashioned agreements” to use someone else’s trademark — the fact that there’s a Mercedes car out there on the street seems sufficient. That being said, today we’re presenting you with the fake Mercedes communicator device. The real name of this phone is QKfone G998 and besides using the Mercedes logo on the front, it also features a world map on the back. The latter is there to suggest this fairly ugly device sports the GPS receiver and is ready to be used for navigation purposes.
Speaking of specs, there’s also the dual-band GSM radio, dedicated gaming keys, 2 MP camera, 2.8″ QVGA main and 1.8″ QVGA external touchscreen, media player, Bluetooth 2.0 support and the 1 GB of memory on board.
Actually, the specs sheet is not that bad. Too bad the quality is questionable – hence we can’t recommend it… More photos follow after the jump.
