Brief: Nokia E71 and E66 specifications leak *UPDATE*

The Nokia (NYSE: NOK) E71 is the successor to the Nokia E61/E62/E61i according to Russian based forum Mobile-Review. It will have a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, HSDPA, weigh 120 grams and be only 57 x 112 x 10 mm; a hell of a lot less wide than the E61i at 70 mm.
These rumors are made by Mobile Review moderator Badger who has a consistent track record of having high quality sources. No pictures have leaked yet, but we’re waiting. In other news he says the E65 successor is called the E66, has the same specs (GPS, HSDPA, 3.2 MP) and is apparently “ugly.” We’ll have to wait and see for ourselves, taste is highly subjective.
CES is coming up in less than a week, but don’t look forward to any groundbreaking mobile news there; Mobile World Congress in February is where you’re going to see the mobile motherload of news mutilate our minds and RSS readers around the world.

I guess Nokia has taken notice of how the BB Pearl has taken off. This will be a refreshing makeover to the E61i if it all falls together nicely. Let’s just hope it supports at least the WCDMA 850 band for the US like the E51 does -
Newtype, this model was probably long in the pipeline before Pearl was announced (i.e. probably already in development when the E61i wasa announced).

This phone will be absolutely shot!
It have all attributes for an ideal
business compact phone:size and shape
(candy bar retainable in hand, very thin-10 mm in the middle, QWERTY with convex keys, big screen, perfect scroll and navigations keys (message, calender, contacts etc.).
Also it have as I can see lot of switches on the side and extraordinary shape not extremely prominent
on the upper and lower part of housing which contribute to handling!
If they put some metal parts in body (like E51 silver)
it will be an ideal phone! Bravo Nokia!

The same old symbian OS on every phone is really getting stale. I think I will wait for iPhone 3G instead.
I’m glad if some new people will get appealed to E series. However, from my perspective, E71 is downgrade from E61, smaller display and keyboard will definitely deliver frustrate for me. While E61 is just all right to work with it conviniently and then to fit it into the jeans pocket.
@frank: Calling same old symbian stale? Yeah wait for IPhone, I hope it will give you the experience you deserve.
I bought the e61 and e61i and this looks like another sad rehash of the same. Symbian is like an old dog that only knows one tired trick. These corporate phones put me to sleep. The only company that “gets it” is Apple. I guess I will keep my Moto Q9H until the iPhone gets 3G. I really need to dump Winblows ASAP.

I wonder where does Nokia get its info and how to make the next model? It simply does not have any understanding of the features, the clients want. (quite a personal opinion!). The E71 is definitely an upgrade from the E61i except for the fact the keys seem to be quite compressed and will make typing QWERTY a task! They’ve tried to make it like the Blackberry Bold but unfortunately, Nokia has it’s limitations. The 3.15 MP Cam seems promising and will be quite a watch in the that huge screen window. One last thing, Rumour says that future Nokia phones will not support Blackberry Connect(like the E51) and will only support Nokia IntelliMail Push Mail service. Any update on that?
