Sony Ericsson W350i, Z555i, W760i to be announced at CES *UPDATE*

Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) announcing devices at CES? Sounds weird, you would think they would wait a month for 3GSM. Word on the street is their going to announce 3 handsets. The 350i brings back the old school flip form factor that is sure to win some nostalgic hearts. Next up is the Z555i which is supposed to be a fashion phone, I think. It certainly is shiny. Last is the 760i which excites me. It looks to have a 3.2 megapixel camera and a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, something that we weren’t sure SE knew existed! It also has GPS. These are rough specs and they could be wrong, but it looks like we will find out in a few days if not definitely next month at Mobile World Congress.

Update: Too good to be true, the W760i will not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. This picture proves it. See that black connector on the left side sticking out like a genital wart? It’s a Sony Ericsson disease:

- W760: This Walkman phone is a slider that comes with quad-band GSM/EDGE as well as tri-band 850/1900/2100 HSDPA radios for worldwide 3G roaming. It has SensMe for turning off alarms and silencing calls by waving your hand over the phone, GPS with Wayfinder navigation and preloaded Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Maps, Track ID, an FM radio, Shake Control, and comes boxed with a 1GB Memory Stick. It also has a 3.2 Megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth.
- W350: This mid-range Walkman flip has two tri-band configurations, one 850/1800/1900 and the other 900/1800/1900. It also comes with a 1.3 Megapixel camera, Track ID, and lets you control music when the phone is closed. It has an FM radio, stereo Bluetooth and comes bundled with a 512MB Memory Stick.
- Z555: This clamshell comes in two different diamond-styled colors. It has a hidden OLED exterior display, a 1.3 Megapixel camera, FM radio, Gesture control and stereo Bluetooth.
The longer they refuse to put a 3.5mm jack on their devices, the longer they have decided that they want to trail the likes of Nokia. I personally think that SE walkman phones sound great, but If I have to walk around with a cord sticking out of another cord, I’ll pass. Other reports say that this phone will have triband 3G and quadband GSM, so I will give them props for that..but that’s it -

They probably figure CES has more media coverage = more exposure and money for them.

What are you people on about, seriously? I think this is probably the best SE phone ever made till date. Sure, there is no 3.5mm port, but TRI-BAND 3G!! I personally think this is a very good development. I sure hope that the next flagship will have tri-band 3G, especially since I’ll be continuing my education in the US soon. Besides, all the other specs are awesome. I’m loving 2008, with all the music phones and non camera oriented phones having 3.2MP cameras now. I sure hope Nokia stop having 2MP in their N-Series (should have stopped a long time ago).
Sorry, I forgot to put “Nokia” flagship. Give me a black N82 with Tri-band 3G and I’ll thank Nokia so much.
This is shit what screen: 2,5 tum, 262 000 colors in there new flagship w760? and no 3,5mm jack . I’m for shore move to Nokia

my son has had the SE 600i 4 2 years and has loved it he was going to get the 580i with his upgrade untill he heard about 760i and has been waiting and waiting any NEW info on when its coming out?????

I have the w760i had it unblocked to use my contract sim and let me tell all you guys it a great phone a lot better than the w580i on the w760i the screen is not exposed the sounds great the signal keeps switching so you always have a signal it goes from 3gps to gps go have a look its smart and stylish for around £200 its a bargain
