Sprint LG Rumor gets firmware fix

Sprint sure got that new firmware out fast. Following on the firmware problems that left the door open to let the common user access an engineering menu and wiping their handset clean of any firmware bits, Sprint and LG have already released the fixed-up firmware for LG Rumor users to download post-haste.
The new firmware is available to Sprint’s LG Rumor owners and is an OTA (over-the-air) download, so updating your LG Rumor is as easy as a couple button-presses.
Rumor owners can update their firmware by navigating their menu to:
Menu > Settings > Tools > Update Firmware

So how do you upgrade a phone that doesnt make or receive calls? Much less one that doesnt connect to the internet?

Hi,
Does anyone know what will happen if the battery dies during this update?
Does it wipe or change any applications I have installed, or my data/contacts?
How big is the file that it will download, is there enough room on the phone for that?
How long will it take to run this update and can I use the phone during the update?
Thanks,
Ronen

Firmware issues are one thing, and easily fixed, but the hardware issues are a problem, especially when LG refuses to fix them.
