Nokia CTO Bob Iannucci: The current mobile space is equivalent to the PC industry of 1982

In the latest episode of Nokia (NYSE: NOK)’s Technology Podcast “The way we live next” Nokia’s new CTO Bob Iannucci talks about where we are today in terms of mobile and how the next few years will look absolutly nothing like the decade prior. He likens today’s mobile industry to the PC world of 1982 and gives recognition to the 14,500 people Nokia has doing research and development, calling them the crown jewels of the company. Bob talks about openness and says that it is more than just a word, but a discipline. Less than 10 minutes, something you can listen to on your commute, highly recommended; NRC is one of the most under marketed parts of Nokia which I think is a real shame.

I agree with what the Nokia CTO, who is right in saying that the coming years will be totally different when it comes to mobiles and users. The way users use their mobile phones will change and Nokia will play an important role in this positive change. Yeah Stefan you are right Nokia research Center guys are really awesome, Nokia should come out with ways to market this unit of their company, which is so much responsible for their success in the mobile handset industry.
I think there will be a blending of the virtual and the physical worlds; blending web presence and adding location – these are the things.
Stefan you have been on fire these past couple of days – you have posted some fascinating articles – makes a change from some of the stuff posted on intomobile lately! The iphone piece and this are excellent.
Oh yeah, How about researching a little harder and make a phone with Tri-band 3G and chargers while syncing to your PC.
Haven’t figure that one yet, eh?
