U.S. Environmental Protection AgencyThe same folks who wanted to destroy the city of Springfield in The Simpsons movie, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, is launching a public education campaign titled “Recycle Your Cell Phone. It’s An Easy Call.”

According to EPA, “the ads will stress environmental and social reasons for recycling.” The agency also plans to release a podcast in which recycling specialists elaborate on their methodologies.

But it’s not just the advertising EPA wants to do – during this year they will organize several cellphone collections and will post a searchable list of cellphone drop-off centers on Web sites. In addition, they will make and distribute posters with the “It’s an easy call” tagline to partners, to post over drop-off bins.

EPA estimates there are as many as 150 million cellphones taken out of service each year…
