Test: Qik on my phone

By Stefan Constantinescu on Wednesday, January 16th, 2008 at 11:46 PM PST In Applications, Symbian

This a test of Qik, a service that allows you to stream video straight from your handset rather easily. I’m playing with it, want to see what the embedded channel looks like. With Mobile World Congress coming up I’m looking for the most no nonsense way to get video up on the net and share it with you guys.

Update: I’ve already made 3 videos, you can find me at www.qik.com/stefan

I have been trying it for a couple of weeks and plan to post to my Qik site (www.qik.com/palmsolo) at GSM World Congress too. The only issue is that you cannot save the files locally or download them later to archive, but the quality is decent for a free service.

  2. yea, i’m chatting up the guys behind it, asking them for a quality increase or something.

I have been using QIK for about a month now, and love it. I’ve even decided to upgrade to an N95-3 from my -1 so that I can stream in higher quality when on the go.

The EDGE support is admirable and works very well though!!
