Underwater Digital Interface

IntoMobile readers who like diving we’ll be glad to know there’s a technology which allows them to send and receive text messages under the water. The so called Underwater Digital Interface (UDI) device combines two-way digital messaging technology, SOS and homing capabilities, a state-of-the-art dive computer and 3D compass. All this combined makes a complete underwater system that lets drivers share, connect and stay safe.

In the real “underwater life,” divers have a device mounted onto their arms, which allows them to communicate with the rest of the underwater team, as well as people on boats above or waiting on land…

I’m not a diver, but this really sounds cool. Too bad it almost certainly costs a small fortune.

This is pretty neat, I’m not sure how much time you could spend texting below water…but the concept is very cool. I wouldn’t mind one anyway :)
