Mio kinda mimics Samsung’s approach to phones – one side phone, other side GPS

You’ve probably already heard a number of stories that pure portable navigation devices (PND) are bound to die in the coming years. So it doesn’t surprises the leading PND manufacturers want to get into the handset market and release either its software for the popular smartphone platforms (something TomTom and Garmin already did) or even make their own GPS-equipped devices. That being said, Navigadget spotted the Mio’s upcoming GPS equipped phone at this year’s CES.
Similarly to Samsung’s approach with the UpStage (B’Phone), the device pictured above has two faces. But unlike the UpStage which reserves one face for music and the other for phone, Mio’s device puts navigation instead of music. The end result is large screen navigation device that’s also the mobile phone. Cool approach, don’t you think?
Finally, in case you’re wondering, we’ve no idea when the Mio GPS phone will be available nor which markets it will target…
