a disaster and I am honestly onto my 4th phone. The software is buggy and it keeps crashing, especially when using the MP3 player. I know this and a lot of other Nokia phones have the same kind of issues (just do a web search) Why should I believe Nokia are any better now though? To me this phone is rushed and not finished. OK Nokia put out 37 models last year but how can they expect us to believe they are ALL fully sorted and debugged? I can';t see how any company could have the resources to fully validate and verify 37 models in one year.I would rather a company put out 1 awesome amazing product (iphone comes to mind) than 37 so so meidocre ones.I also don't believe apple are going to threaten Nokias market share and dominance but market share size does not a great company make. Microsoft has 99% of the OS market and look at the awful stuff they put out.

I do admire Nokia, back in 95-96 I brought a Nokia in the UK to use on the Orange network. My current phone is Nokia 6280 (had it for over three years)and its horrible. I'm on my 4th phone as it keeps crashing when I use the so called MP3 player. I have given up trying to get it sorted as I am waiting for an iphone. After being treated so badly by Nokia I would never get a Nokia again. How can you say you like the iphone but you don't like the fact that Steve Jobs was involved?? To me he is a hero because he is teaching bloated companies like Nokia, Microsoft how to do it and giving US what we want, not buggy, badly designed products. He has brought back excitement to products.

Interesting article and you obviously work or are closely affiliated with Nokia.

To me nokia phones are dogs dinners to look at and use. A year is long enough for both anticipation and some big release. Yes, I do agree that we will mostly see mid-end devices with better featuers like 3.2MP and 3.5mm port, which I really hope would be correct. However, there will also be flagship releases.I do agree that the iPhone deserves to be the phone of the year, even though it has mediocre feature set, for reasons you have stated. I still hate how Apple products have a lot of wow factors and make people think it's the best thing, when there are much better alternatives.Yeah, I have the N82 and love it too (A LOT). Sometimes I would smile and just think of how great my N82 is.

That’s a frigging long article, but somehow i read it through…

I do not agree with you that 2008 will be the year without a flagship. You just saved me a lot of work: I'll write this URL into my report and add my few comments at the end :grin:One public comment, though: the big difference with iPhone vs everything else is lack of features. iPhone is able to do only a few selected things, but it does those things in an exceptional way. That's usability!Take any Nokia phone and you have 200 features in 500 places accessible in 1000 different ways. That alone will ruin all easy-to-use attempts. It's just too much for any (normal) person. As for 2008: just wait and see iPhone get infected with feature creep . Release of SDK will be the end of usability. However the first impression was good, maybe it'll fool people for a while.Cheers,--jouni

Great summary of the year 2007, great analysis of 2008. All the pics are photoshopped and I am getting pretty tired of waiting. I think Stefan made it pretty clear that there won't be any major technological advancements within the next year. That being said, should people look to SE for something like the highly rumored P5 for technologic advancements?!?I just want the newest and greatest!!!!!!!!!!!CUMON NOKIA!! BLACK N82!!!!!

Yea dude, I understand you can “pre-order” it from mobilecityonline.com, but in reality, Nokia hasn’t even officially announced it and there are no leaked shots.
