HTC Touch coming to Verizon Wireless in White - the Verizon XV6900

Way to go, Verizon! We love the way you add handsets to your lineup months (more than we can count with the fingers on one hand) after they’ve hit the market in GSM-guise. Just how are you the No. 2 carrier in the US? Oh yea, because the other alternative is the other CDMA carrier, Sprint.
Enough Verizon-hating, if people want to stay with the “beta-max” of a network that Verizon calls CDMA, we’ll let it be.
It looks like Verizon Wireless will be picking up the incredibly successful HTC Touch in CDMA form. No, it hasn’t been announced yet, but then again, that’s why you love us, right? This one’s a lock for release, it’s just a matter of time.
What you see above is an HTC Touch clad in White, complete with Verizon branding. We’re expecting Verizon to brand the HTC Touch as the Verizon XV6900, and it should be rocking the same 2 megapixel camera, EVDO, and GPS internals as its CDMA-siblings already on Sprint and Alltel. Of course, Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional will be running the show with a Verizon-branded version of TouchFLO giving it a good dose of “pretty.”
Hey, Verizon customers, just don’t go renewing your contract for the sake of a pretty, new HTC Touch. Wait a bit and come over to the GSM side of things - life’s just soo much better over here.

Can you hear me now? Probably not, AT&T just dropped your call. You couldn’t pay me to switch to AT&T in my market, they are so worthless. So what if Verizon is a half generation behind in terms of device releases, at least my XV6800 works when I need it to.
PS - The likelyhood of Verizon calling the Touch the XV6900 is extremely slim. Consumers would confuse it with the recently released XV6800. It may be ??6900, but probably not XV.

REAL RELEASE INFO. ABOUT THE HTC TOUCH FROM VERIZON:
ON THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 2008, AT 5:00 P.M., A VERIZON CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. TOLD ME THAT HE HAS AN HTC VERZON USER MANUAL AND THAT THE REPS WILL BE TRAINED ON MARCH 31. THIS MEANS THAT THE PHONE WILL BE AVAILABLE PROBABLY SOMETIME IN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF APRIL… I FIGURED IT WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO ASK, SINCE THE ‘BIG-WIGS’ AT VERIZON HAD A TECH. CONFERENCE IN NYC ON THE 19TH AND 20…. STILL, IT’S FRUSTRATING THAT VERIZON HAS BEEN SO CAGEY ABOUT RELEASING THIS INFO. STILL, GOOD NEWS FOR THOSE OF US LOOKING FOR A CDMA IPHONE WANNA-BE.

You could not pay me to go back to AT&T. I have used every carrier out there during the last 16 years and I will not switch from Verizon. CDMA, whatever, the fact is that Verizon is soooo reliabile. It is not the phone selection it is the excellent reliability and almost ZERO drops no matter where I travel.
I did get to see this new 6900 phone today and I think it is time to trade in my 3 year old Treo.
