dirt Glu bringing you games for your moby in Q1 2008!

Glu has announced it’s lineup for Q108, and it’s looking pretty sweet – with two console ports coming our way!

First of those is Colin McRae: DiRT, featuring full 3D graphics, and various modes. Second is Metal Gear Acid, which many of you will know from it’s PSP debut.

There is also Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Diner Dash 2 (which we’ve mentioned before), and Crosspix. So a fairly comprehensive list in all.

My own tastebuds are being whetted by the thought of some hardcore Rally action on my mobile – although having played a fair few mobile games now (I used to source them for a handset manufacturer!), it always seems to be the controls that make or break the game (rather than the graphics, which everyone is so fixated on in the console world) – but I trust Glu to do a great job, and let’s hope we can get a copy for review at some point soon!

…do people really play such games on their mobile? Outside of Tetris and games like Galaga (etc), who would possibly want to game on their phone for more than 5 minute burts -

Yes I think people do – it’s just getting that fine balance of a game that’s playable, that you can play in chunks, and that is optimised for a mobile handset – a driving game should in theory be a good candidate, I think the proof will be in the detail of how it’s delivered

    :o )
