Sony Ericsson announces W61S and W62S in Japan; Rest of the world cries

Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) is one nasty company. They keep all their best products for Japan. It’s like they don’t want to compete with high-end Nokia (NYSE: NOK) phones in Europe… Whatever the case is, they’ve just announced two new phones for the Japanese market - W61S and W62S. Let’s briefly introduce them, shall we…
The Sony Erisson W61S slider seems like an ultimate Cyber-shot phone. Aside from the 5.11 megapixel CMOS sensor which uses the same “Exmor” technology from Sony’s Pro Alpha DSLR, this baby also rocks other technologies like Kaokime Lite (auto adjusts brightness upon face detection for best possible facial tones), Smile Shutter Lite (auto shutter release upon detecting a smile), anti-shake, auto-focus and 3x optical zoom. Then there’s the EV-DO Rev. A support, 2.8″ WVGA (480×800) screen which boasts “Reality MAX” technology from Bravia, TV-Out, Bluetooth, GPS, microSD slot, and more. Available in April 2008 in 3 colors - Spectrum Pink, Shadow Black and Prism White.
Then there’s the W62S global roaming clamshell which has 2 megapixel camera, WQVGA (432×240) screen, and microSD slot. Once it hits the market, it will be available in Silver-Leather, Black-Rose and White-Lime.
Now folks from Sweden (Ericsson), please tell your Japanese partners to move some of those things over to Europe and America. We’ll certainly know how to appreciate it…

OMG! Now I want this W61S so badly, especially if it has 3.5mm port (though I doubt it will). YES, BRING IT TO OTHER MARKETS SE!!!! This is what SE’s flagship should be like… This might even be better than my N82…

The USA is always the last country to ever get any new technology. I would love to get my hands on the W61S! IF we even get it it’ll probably be YEARS from now!!!!
I just got the W62S on Halloween here in Japan! They’re trying to get rid of it because it was introduced two seasons ago! Anyway… its got a nice shell and nice big screen, which is pretty common in this country). Other than that, there isn’t much to say about it’s features (maybe it’s cool that its got international roaming). I just wish it had bluetooth!
Japan spews out new phones every season… that means they have new phone models four times a year!!!! And…they have the iPhone here, it’s just not very popular.
Now…if I can only figure out how to change the theme on my phone, I would be the happiest girl alive! (the themes are pretty plain).

They have iphone in Japan. But only in SoftBank and not very popular.
The people loves to use the Japanese phone because they have a lot of
function than the PDA or other globe phone. A lot of Japanese phone can
use like credit card. You can pay at the 7-eleven, pay the train ticket, pay the soda machine…etc.
The other funcation can watch TV for free. They is great for me when I taking the train…

Japan is just very good on making such electronic like that, I am so impress, but that w62s is only uses in japan, but it can’t be use in other sim card, I wish this phone(w62s) can be available in the Philippines, as will as the software on it, i just got one but it’s lock on one sim from Japan
