In an effort that seemed envisioned to boost efficiency and cut costs along the way, Sony Ericsson is outsourcing production of its recently announced mobile phones to two Taiwan-based OEMs.
According to DigiTimes, Arima Communications will be making T270, T280 as well as R300 Radio models, while Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) will handle the production of the R306 Radio clamshell. Sources in Taiwan’s handset industry say total shipments from the two makers is expected to reach 15-18 million units in 2008.
