Dior and Swarovski to launch their own phones?

FashionThis isn’t actually hot news, but it’s interesting nevertheless. The idea that famous fashion powerhouses want a piece of the mobile action is everything but new. We already have Armani and Prada phones available today, and Tag Heuer is reportedly in the midst of launching its own handset.

And now, we have a new piece of information suggesting that Dior and Swarovski may also be interested to jump in. Their shareholders certainly won’t have anything against the idea. If it’s designed correctly and is aligned with the overall brand image and strategy, it can only add more profits for them.

According to some experts, in the next three years non-traditional brands, including fashion designers, may grab up to 20% of the global market, selling around 200 million handsets a year. That’s a number worth every respect and I doubt it’s something people from the fashion industry can simply ignore…
