What about a small merger-SWOT?

Strengths
-Dick will reach his stretch target after only a few months. Christmas bonuses secured already in April!!!

Weaknesses
SonyEricssonMotorola doesn't fit into the window bezel -> future phones will have to be wider
Size - Remember the story of where the Zebra swallows the Elephant? Me neither..

Opportunities
-People will forget about Svanberg's recent communication blunder so he can secure is Christmas bonus too!!
-Walkman and Motorola logos could be merged -> producing 250M copies per year of one logo is several cents cheaper so everyone can point at the vast savings that such a merger would result in. More bonuses!!
-Complementing on markets, production, design, tech.. and some other irrelevant areas

Threats
Culture - Talk about cultural clash. I sure hope those SE guys set aside a lot of cash for liquid team building or they will get a mouthfull - they will anyway, just everyone will be too busy with their hangover to be pissing-in their territories for a while

Any old Lessons Learnt we can reuse? - I seem to recognize this idea from another time and another place.. Around a year after that time the market share of that combined company went to zero and the whole thing went up in smoke.. Nah, that must have been a bad dream

I think that merge would sweet things up in the mobile world. I'm sick of those fashionable wannabe LGs and Samsungs ugh. And someone has to rival Nokia. So there you go, this might be one way.

How cute. Now two, non-innovative companies can sleep together and can tell everyone about it. Both SE and Motorola thrive on mediocrity, so they should be a perfect fit for each other -

How about if its not buying a falling company division. Google it and you find that Ericsson was trying to buy Motorola's mobile unit during last summer . You never know those punks can do about money

Ughhhh... Why buy a failing company division? I think SE would be more successful on its own. I'm pretty sure it's the profit that counts, not the marketshare. I don't see why you would buy a company division just to raise marketshare, while decreasing profit (Moto has been operating at a loss for quite a while).
