German Nokia webmasters leak N96 specifications

Update: The page was taken down, but my buddy Mark was there in time to copy and paste (and translate) the information!

You don’t mess with the Germans, they’ll find some way to stab you in the back. The Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N96 specifications have been posted on Nokia’s German site and here they are for your pleasure:
- Quadband EDGE
- Dualband HSDPA 850/2100 MHz
- DVB-H Class C
- 92 cc volume
- 125 gram weight
- 103 x 55 x 18 mm
- 16 GB internal memory AND a microSD slot; 24 GB total if you spend an extra $80
- 950 mAh battery
- 6.1 cm (2.8 inch) 320×240 display with 16 million colors
- 3.5 mm headphone jack
- WiFi (802.11b/g)
- AGPS
- 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens that also does VGA video recording at 30 FPS, Dual LED flash that can also be used when video recording!
- S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (Flash Lite 3 enabled web browser included)
- microUSB

Do I hear lame duck? Yes it will sell well but hardly any difference to the N95 8Gb. If that is the next released flagship (which is most likely, but fingers crossed it isnt) I will be sorely dissapointed. The N95 is a year old now, this is pretty much the same specs.
950mAH battery! QVGA screen! DVB-h? Argh. We need more battery, more than the N95 8Gb, even that would benefit from more juice. As for the screen, unless other manufacturers release better screens there isno incentive for Nokia to do so, it makes no commercial sense – so we are stuck with QVGA. DVB-H usless in the majority of countries, and wont be useful for a couple years. Its just gimmick as it stands, people will think it has mobile TV then be dissapointed.#
Sorry to be hard on Nokia, but you know its right!
950 mAh? With these specs I’d be laughing at a battery with less than 1200 mAh. also the N81 figure just isn’t my taste.
Seems that the info has been removed, can anyone confirm?
still works here
Got it, doesn’t load on FF correctly for some reason.
Dual LED flash
this completly sucks.. 1 LED is bad enough, macro shots in low light are completly out of the question with this device then, you could create the same picture using paint, just make a new image with a bright white background and there youll have the exact same image as you would from a macro shot taking on a camera with 2 LED’s for a flash
The stats are interesting and seem real.
This makes me happy, now I can just pick up the black N82 (as soon as it comes to Canada) and not worry about out-dated technology for another year.
that batterys isnt healthy either
Some points of interest to me:
-16GB PLUS the ability to add memory cards. Nokia has answered many people’s prayers, and one-ups the iphone.
-850/2100 3G. I get 3G reception here in Orlando on the 850 band, so this is good news to me.
Like many have said though, the device isn’t really offering anything we haven’t seen before.
Yawn/
Not really an update, more a move towards standardising this look. It’s evident not only on the recent releases but also throughout Nokia’s packaging and advertising, so I guess they felt they had to bring the flagship model into line.
LED flash is terrible, truly terrible, especially at a time when almost all Nokia’s competitors are releasing all their camera phones with Xenon Flash +/- Optic Zoom.
And yes, as Marty has mentioned, that battery is terrible. What can’t Nokia sort it out? I think it was a Samsung phone I saw recently that is like 10mm thick with Optic zoom and a 1200mA battery….
except that it’s better than the N95 8GB! duh! 16GB + external storage! and FP2
the only thing that is attractive on this device, im my opinion, is it has FP2,
This is good news for me. I bought an N95, had it for about a week, then had to return it. The build quality just sucks on these things. creaky buttons, STICKY buttons, fisher price quality all around. the phone itself was pretty good though, maybe i’ll buy it again if the price drops enough, but for $600, i want something with some good build quality.
great! nobody took a screenshot of the page? is down now
Agree marty3.
Spec wise it’s starts to be enough for me at least.
Still waiting for iphone like screen and i’m more than happy.
Call me when they add a HVGA screen, a Xenon Flash and an optical zoom to an N-Series device
thie designe is like the N81, i don’t like it just bcuz they are lot of button (dedicated music button).i think this information is false.
this is not false my friend, it will be announced at next weeks conference in spain at the 3GSM
im more intrested in the touchUI device there gonna demo there
@marty3: they won’t show actual devices that you can buy in a few months, just the new touch ui.
no, it will be just a demo proto device to show the OS working..
It looks just as N81, with bigger screen.
I love the 16GB + microSD. THIS IS FRIGGING AWESOME.
The battery sucks so much though….
Give us Xenon flash, better battery, and triband HSDPA, and it’ll be an overkill.
Thanks stefan for the scoop! the official link is down. I copied and paste it here if you want to see the full specs. http://thenokiablog.com/2008/02/07/preview-nokia-n96-specifications-leaked/
thanks mark, threw a link up there to your content.
Did anyone else spot the N96 supports WMV 9 – thats certainly welcome – lets hope its a sign of things to come (that they support more codecs)
This looks like a great phone, but it doesn’t matter since I’m in the US. I’m still liking the n95 8gb for now.
omg you fu*king spamming a hole..
go take your scams somewhere else..
Suck my Goddamn Hairy Fuckin Salty Chocolate Balls
I heard there might be a 6 megapixel version. Anyone else heard this?
Does any body know that if the N96 can record phonecalls or not??
