O2 Head of R&D predicts what you’ll see at MWC

Mike Short, Head of R&D at O2 UK, was interviewed by Mobile Marketing Magazine, about what he expects to see at MWC – below is a brief bulleted summary of the key points:

•  Mobile Data and Applications – lots around 3G, Mobile Internet, and Mobile Email
• Mobile Commerce and Banking – NFC (Near Field Communications) contactless payment, and “Money by Mobile”
• Mobile Advertising – a lot of activity in this area as it finally becomes mature
• Screen, Eyewear, and Accessories – the world of Mobile moving from verbal to visual e.g. pico-projectors
• Mobile Communities and Social Networking – lots of excitement after recent announcements such as EyeVibe
• M2M (Machine-2-Machine) – for example Telematics services
• Various – lots on Mobile TV, Bar Codes, GPS, and Environmental solutions

Of course the IntoMobile team are now in Barcelona, so expect a cavalcade of updates from us in the next few days, and we’ll see how of much of the above appears – I would bet a large amount!!
