Opera Mobile 9.5 demo video

Opera Mobile 9.5 was recently announced and we can’t wait to take a look at it. More specifically, we can’t wait to experience the new mobile browser in person. With intense competition in the mobile browser market, Opera Mobile 9.5 has its work cut out for it. But, then again, Opera’s consistently rolled out innovative mobile browsers so we’re sure they’re on their game with 9.5.

Opera Mobile 9.5 features iPhone Safari-esque functionality. Tthe full-HTML, touch-based zooming, tabbed browsing, and panning features on the iPhone’s Safari browser set the bar pretty high, and Opera Mobile 9.5 seems to have met that level of browsing excellence.

Here’s a quick look at what Opera Mobile 9.5 will be offering when it hits public beta this summer.

  • Intuitive user interface
  • Tabbed browsing
  • Improved text wrap
  • Page overview, zooming and panning
  • Landscape mode
  • Save Web page for future offline access
  • Call phone number from Web page
  • Send link as SMS/MMS
  • Send image as SMS/MMS
  • Small Screen Rendering™
  • Password manager
  • Web address input auto-completion
  • History and bookmarks
  • Copy text
  • Opera Widgets

Oh, and we mentioned a video didn’t we? Unwired View had the chance to visit with the Opera reps at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and they were able to get a quick demo video of the new Opera Mobile 9.5.

 Eek! Does that mean it’s impossible to cut out text, and that the rendering is a picture- representation, rather than a html parse? That changes with the zoom- level and layout? And that the browser throws away lots of complicated css layout to speed up rendering and loading times! And doesn’t have secure connections unless specifically granted by the inbuilt certificates?

    Please say it ain’t so!
