Sony Ericsson patent application for self adjusting mobile phone projector

We’ve yet to see the pico-projector (that is, projectors embedded within mobile phones) even break into mobile phone reality, and Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) is already thinking about a future filled with mobile phone projectors. By the time mobile phone projectors hit the mainstream (perhaps by 2010), Sony Ericsson plans to have the patents to back a self-adjusting pico-projector.
The USPTO patent application from Sony Ericsson outlines a method by which the projected image from a mobile phone’s pico-projector would be analyzed by the handset’s camera. Based on the image-analysis, the projected image could be adjusted for color, brightness, and focus - ensuring that your mobile phone’s projector will always be beaming an optimal picture.
So, once mobile phone projectors hit the market for reals, we can expect Sony Ericsson to roll-out handsets with the sharpest projected picture. Think “CyberShot projector” - now that would be cool.
For now, we’ll just settle for any pico-projector to hit production.

Is this supposed to be smiling face?
You mean Bravia projector.
Actually, Bravia would be reserved for high-end TV/projectors. I would think a pico-projector would complement the high-end cameraphone. Not to mention that a high-end camera module would make color/focus/brightness adjustments more accurate.
Think about it. You take a cool video or picture with your CyberShot handset and then beam it onto your car’s roof for your friends to see. That would be cool.
not even that…imagine using it viewing divx videos, or making powwerpoint presentations from the phone, etc
