After finally getting the FCC’s approval on the matter (contingent on letting the DHS listen in on all communications, of course), T-Mobile has completed the acquisition of regional carrier SunCom. The deal puts an extra 1.1 million subscribers from Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands under T-Mobile’s official coverage maps.
Adding all those extra fish to T-Mobile’s net puts the Deutsche Telekom-owned wireless operator more in league with the Big Three national carriers. T-Mobile is now in 98 of the top 100 national markets.
