Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 to use microSD memory card after all; Windows Mobile 6.5 back in the mix?

Now that’s a refreshing change of pace from Sony Ericsson. It seems that Sony Ericsson updated their XPERIA X1 specification sheet to reflect the use of microSD expansion cards. Last time I mentioned the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 superphone, I said that I’d take the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 with that horrible, proprietary MemoryStick memory card format - the handset is really that awesome.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 to use microSD card formatThere are almost no words to describe how overjoyed I was to hear that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 would be using the standard microSD card format. That little tidbit perfectly rounds off the feature set of an admirable smartphone.

And, we’re also hearing that Windows Mobile 6.5 might just be back in the mix. Contrary to those screenshots that clearly show the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 displaying Windows Mobile 6.1, there is once again some talk of the XPERIA X1 toting Windows Mobile 6.5. If WinMo 6.5 really is the OS of choice for this new superphone, the “hands-off” approach from the Sony Ericsson reps makes all that much more sense - even more so than if it was rocking Windows Mobile 6.1.

Now, all that’s left is for Sony Ericsson to drop this darn thing on us already. The wait is getting unbearable - and there’s still 6 months to go. Oh well, we’re in for the long-haul with this one.

Zak, TFT is the display technology. VGA is the display resolution. Although, it’s WVGA, not VGA.

This is good news, but will it also have 3.5mm port??? PLEASE?

    • Sirriq says:

The microSD information has been available since the announcement, had you bothered to look over the spec sheet. Also, 3.5mm jack is clearly visible in some of the pictures. I’m surprised that people who think this phone is so amazing just make assumptions and don’t look into things for themselves.

    • Krash says:

But will the 3.5mm port also use the mic and have the (upcoming) standard iPhone pinout?

    • COPYRIGHT says:

@ News Reader, I totally agree with u, even the old Sony Ericsson p990i had 262,000 colours, and that phone had more bugs than a pixar movie.

    • Gerd A Zimmermann says:

Still the best to come, I compared a lot of specs but the Xperia wins, espacially when you travel abroad. My only concern is WHEN can we get it :(
