Qwest looking to partner with Verizon Wireless, shunning Sprint?

The Sprint (NYSE: S)-based MVNO, Qwest Wireless, is allegedly looking into changing their network partnership. Apparently, Sprint hasn’t done right by the MVNO and combined with a bit of red-ink on their balance sheets, Qwest may be jumping off the Sprint-ship and hopping on board the good ship Verizon (NYSE: VZ).
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg confirmed that Qwest and Verizon Wireless are considering a new MVNO partnership that would offer Qwest customers a presumably seamless switch to the nation’s other CDMA network. Of course, Qwest will have to ride out the rest of their contract with Sprint. So if they don’t end up bailing on the whole MVNO venture by then, we may just see Qwest leasing network time from Verizon Wireless.
