A few minor changes in store for iPhone v2.0

It’s not like there isn’t already enough to get excited about with the next revision of the iPhone firmware. We’ve got the iPhone SDK going final, enterprise support (Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) Exchange), and the Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) AppStore to look forward to. What more could Apple possibly have in store for us? Minor changes and not so minor changes are in store for iPhone users. Keep reading for a list of minor changes, check out the more significant changes here.
Doc over at Macenstein put his freakishly sharp eyes to work and spotted a couple minor changes to the iPhone UI. Pictures from the iPhone Software Roadmap indicate that Apple will be going “square” on the iPhone’s calculator. The iPhone Calculator currently rocks round buttons, with the “equals” button in orange. But, if the image that Apple presented a couple days ago is any indication, Apple will be revising the iPhone Calculator buttons to a square shape. Don’t Apple designers have better things to do than tweak the iPhone Caculator’s buttons?
There seems to also be a likewise minor change to the iPhone’s iTunes Store icon. What we see is an iTunes Store icon with a musical note graphic, as opposed to the current “download arrow” graphic. I agree with Doc when he says that the new iTunes Store icon may be a misguided move. The iTunes Store represents Music, TV shows, and movies - not just music. A “download arrow” is better suited to the iTunes Store’s function than a musical note.
And, the iPhones homescreen dock could be getting a minor refresh. It’s hard to tell from the fuzzy screen-capture, but the iPhone v2.0 could end up sporting a homescreen dock adorned with lines, rather than the mesh/perforated aluminum look that it currently sports.
Like I said, the changes to the UI seem to be minor at this point. We also have the AppStore icon to look forward to, but other than that, we’ll just have to wait until we get more info on the iPhone v2.0’s changelog.
Of course, nothing beats having access to all those promising iPhone developers’ applications right on the iPhone. That and some wireless GPS love with locoGPS - at least until Apple decides to integrate GPS into the iPhone.
I’m counting down the minutes to June. Now, how many minutes does that come out to?
Check out the not so minor changes in store for iPhone users.

Get a life…
This article is sooo boring.
YAWWWWWWWWWN.
Why did you bother to post this stupid article?
Not only is it useless but actually stupid: you actually think those are lines replacing the mesh dock? Dude, you’re looking at a low quality photograph of a video, those “lines” “adorning” the dock are the mesh holes idiot.
1968 minutes to June 1st.
The iTunes wifi store only supports music downloads… No tv show or movie downloads yet… Unless you know something I don’t. So if this change sticks when the actual update releases, it’s actually a better icon. I beleive the author of this article is a little misguided
If only he’d had a calculator with square buttons, then he could have figured out how many minutes until June.
Get a Tilt. Stop fucking around.
Not useful at all!
I clicked on the link hoping to get some “information”. Nothing personal, but this article is too dumb and lame.
You guys are funny. Thanks for a nice laugh. And I agree…. this article is pretty useless.
i was expecting news… this article and then reading the comments and then replying with this comment has been a waste of time.
I’d say the writer is jealous of “Apple Designers” not having anything better to do. What I detest is self-appointed brainless critics.
Maybe the “tweak” on the calculator buttons lets you tell at a glance what version a particular iPhone is, or was, in the very beginning. ? I want an RPN calculator anyway, and there are some out there. What a fantastic platform the iPhone is.
will we ever be able to send & reveive via blue tooth????
Well we will be able to send and receive via blue tooth. Plus why cant we assign tones for contacts???
I bet Apple was afraid of getting sued by LEGO ® because of that old calculator icon
Wow, you guys sure know how to draw out a mean group of people!
I personally am thankful for the article. Ignore these evil people with there rude comments.
Instead of speculating about shapes of the icons, the author should have better reasearched on whether stereo blue-tooth (a2dp profile) is ever going to be fixed.
It ain’t real for me until they hit 3G. Edge is fine for minor stuff, but I use my cell as air-card tether and for that, need 3G. I read that 3G was a far away dream because it sucks battery juice like dr. house does vicadin.
What a boring, pointless article.
Listen guys, the iPhone has no more calculator capability than the Bowmar 901B in 1972/73 - the first commercially available digital hand held calculator. I know, I had one. For gosh sakes, why can’t Apple give us a calculator with RPN and other functions which were introduced in 1973 by HP?
Surely you wordsmiths are aware that there are iPhone users who are advanced beyond add, subtract, multiply and divide

“Don’t Apple designers have better things to do than tweak the iPhone Caculator’s buttons?”
Doesn’t IntoMobile have anything better to do then report pointless crap to it’s readers?
Most useless article I’ve read in a while.
Hellva build up though. SDK, Microsoft Exchange support, Apps Store, Games, and . . . . minor UI changes?! I actually reread the calculator icon change portion trying to figure out WTF was so damn exciting.
1. This is the 2nd time they have changed the calculator icon.
2. The iTunes WIFI store IS ONLY MUSIC you idiot. Did you do ANY research at all for this article??? Now that there are two stores it is also much better because it clearly lets you see what store it is instead of a generic arrow.
3. Those lines on the dock are just resolution flicker from a crappy pic of a projector screen you moron.
4. I know more interesting news about this event than you do. Did you happen to notice that in one of the screen shots of the contact menu it has a search icon above A in the alphabetical vertical listing on the side? This is potential evidence that Apple is finally putting search into their contacts app.
Wow maybe I should be payed to right articles on here!
Emh…okey guys..the calculater icon will NOT CHANGE. If you look closely at the real time picture in the keynote, you’ll clearly see that the buttons are still round! Go have a look…
Now, who’s got the “sharpest” eyes…
The buttons LOOK square cause of the bad graphic of the picture during the keynote…thats all
