Verizon launches Motorola RIZR Z6cx – the “x” stands for “no camera”

Verizon launches Motorola Z6cx without cameraHurray! Verizon Wireless has launched yet another version of their world-traveling Motorola RIZR Z6 slider! Wait a tick, it’s actually got less features than the Moto Z6c?

The Motorola Z6cx has gone live on Verizon Wireless, but don’t be fooled by the extra letters adorning the model name of this slick slider-phone. The “x” in Motorola Z6cx probably stand for “no camera.” In other words, the Moto Z6cx lightens its globe-trotting load by doing away with the 2 megapixel camera that its sibling Moto Z6c so happily sports.

The lack of camera is probably Moto’s way of appealing to jet-setting corporate types that can’t bring a camera into the workplace – trade secrets being secrets, after all. It’s a shame that the camera is gone. Maybe Motorola might want to think about licensing RIM’s idea to lock the camera with a physical lock and key….

For $179.99, after contract and rebates (of course), you too can grab your own Motorola Z6cx without a camera.

I’m am thrill about this new phone with no camera – for people across the nation that work at nuclear facilities we can not take a camera phone in to work with us. There have been no choices of camera phones except the lowest end crappiest phone they have with no features. You have no idea how many people will be buying this camera. Thank you to whoever helped put this phone out.

I am intrigued by this. I practice law, and as many people know, cameras (including camera phones) are not normally allowed in courthouses. This sounds very promising. I just need a phone that phones and that has Bluetooth capability, and while this still has some unnecessary bells and whistles (text-message nonsense, web browsers, etc….all a load of junk), the lack of a camera is something I’ve wanted for several years.

Why is this phone $100 MORE EXPENSIVE than the one WITH the camera????
