Research and Markets, Dublin based institution, predicts that 300 million multimedia enabled mobile phones will ship in 2008, a number that will surpass the number of television sets. A multimedia enabled mobile is defined as one that can play video and audio, that in it of itself is pretty vague considering some handsets can do that, but no one in their right mind would want to use that feature.

Can’t really see this as a surprise, the market for mobiles is much larger than that of televisions, but will a mobile phone ever replace a television? Doubtful, but I do see more and more devices coming out to market with TV out.
