Dial2Do is a free phone service that lets you get things done just by phoning a number and saying what you want done. You can call Dial2Do and say “email” to send an email, “text” to send a text message, “note” to…well you get the idea! It is being introduced to the US market at CTIA in Las Vegas.

Dial2Do is adding services all the time. Now you can do the following critical tasks hands-free via voice:

  • Write Notes – Dial2Do will ask you what you want to be reminded about/ note, and then send you an email with the details
  • Compose and Send Emails — Dial2Do allows you to “speak” your emails and pick the recipient. Then Dial2Do sends them email with what you said, and a link to the audio so they can hear
  • Compose and Send Text Messages — as above, but via SMS
  • Twitter — Dial2Do allows you to speak updates to your Twitter feed
  • Jaiku — Dial2Do allows you to speak updates to your Jaiku feed
  • Jajah — Say ‘Jajah’ and the name of the person/group, then hang up and Dial2Do will connect your call

For services that require transcription (email, text), Dial2Do uses a combination of both automation and human assistance. The service “learns” from corrections made by human agents, so the more the user uses the service, the better the automation gets.

So it sounds like a fairly handy service if you are in to (a) making calls and (b) not writing stuff down – but what say you, IntoMobile readership – would you actually use it?

Ben Robinson

Ben is a 10+ year veteran of the Mobile industry – starting his career when SMS was a still a relatively new concept for most people (!), he has now consulted on everything from bleeding-edge Mobile content, to the next-gen accessories you might view it on. As a result he has a broad and deep knowledge in numerous areas of Mobile – from network operators to device vendors, to infrastructure and middleware vendors (not to mention content delivery) – and has worked for companies in all of these areas! He is based in the UK, a hotbed of activity for mobile, and recently became a father for the second time – as oppose to in his younger years when he was happy spend time tweaking all manner of mobile devices to 'nth' degree, he now looks for services and hardware that provide the most efficient, compact, and reliable improvements to his already manic life! It’s his opinion that Mobile solutions should be there to help to make your life better – if a particular solution (be it service or device) isn’t doing this, he believes you need to ask the very important question of why you continue to use it... His focus at IntoMobile is mainly on Mobile content, services, and infrastructure, particularly as regards the UK market – and with the occasional look at devices. Additionally, using his extensive experience in the industry, he will provide commentary on the industry at large, with regular (and hopefully thought-provoking) articles.
