LiMo Foundation: LiMo Platform Release 1, plus we have TI on board
By Dusan Belic on Monday, April 7th, 2008 at 3:05 AM PST In Announcements, Linux
We’ve almost missed this one. Just before the CTIA has started, LiMo Foundation announced LiMo Platform Release 1, “the world’s first globally competitive, Linux-based software platform for mobile devices.”
We’ve no more details what’s included in the package, but we do have LiMo’s executive director Morgan Gillis’ words, if that counts, “With Release 1 of the LiMo Platform now completed, LiMo Foundation has established a scalable and sustainable mobile device platform that will spur rapid innovation and contributions from all LiMo members.”
Release 2 of the LiMo Platform is planned to be completed in a late 2008 timeframe.
At the same time, LiMo Foundation announced a new member, and “first semiconductor company at the Core member level” – Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN), which will assume a seat on LiMo’s Board of Directors, Executive Council, Architecture Council and Requirements Council, and will work within LiMo’s constructs to make “valuable contributions to the development and advancement of the LiMo Platform.”
Official website, limofoundation.org, is the place to get more information.
